T&R Distributing
By Allison Flood, Stanton FFA Secretary

I hope everyone is off to a wonderful start to the new school year! It is hard to believe that fall is already here! The Stanton FFA Chapter starts another busy year this month with contests, workshops, and practices. We also have a new advisor, Ms. Hales, who comes to us from Rock County High School in Bassett, NE. We are excited to have her here and to see what she has in store for us!

Some of the FFA members have already been busy with their FFA projects. Beth and Kyley Reese, Richard and Oliva Domogalla, and Syndey Schellpepper all showed livestock at the Stanton County Fair and the Nebraska State Fair as well as other livestock shows this summer. They all worked very hard to prepare their livestock for the shows and their hard work certainly paid off as they collected many ribbons and awards!

The first FFA meeting was held October 1st, during homeroom. During this meeting members new and old were able to sign up for contests and the IMPACT workshop in Norfolk on October 7th. The contests that they will be able to sign up for include: Land Judging, October 15th at Logan View, Dairy Evaluation, October 1st (morning only) near Walthill, and the District Leadership Skills Event contests held on November 25th at Wisner. The FFA will once again be selling fruit. This year fruit sales will begin around November 17th, with delivery dates around December 10th. More information about fruit sales will be sent out in November.

The FFA officers; Bethany Reese, Nellie Daniel, Allsion Flood, Grant Nordby, Daisy Canchola, Shelby Paulsen, Felicia Sothan, Brenda Jensen and Oliva Domagalla have also decided to sell FFA t-shirts and hoodies again this year. The t-shirts will be $15 and the hoodies will be $25. Any member interested in purchasing one or both of these items will need to sign up in Ms. Hales’ room by October 6th.

Also any new member will be able to buy their very own FFA Jacket for $40. There are a few jackets available for a reduced priced for any new member that wishes to try them on.

The officers have also decided to practice Sr. Parliamentary Procedure Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:15 a.m. in order to be fully prepared for their competition in November. Those on the Sr. Parli Pro team will be updated on any time changes that may have to be made.
