The Aurora FFA Chapter started the year with a kick-off barbeque held in the local park.  Members stuffed themselves with hamburgers and hot dogs followed by an introduction of officers and activities scheduled for the year.

This years officers are: President, Brad Hohwieler; Vice President, Chris Boehle; Secretary, Tara Hansen; Treasurer, Max Anderson; Reporter, Jessica Vettel; Sentinel, Jamie Bergmark; Parliamentar-ian, Matt Grosshans. The evening was concluded with members playing an aggressive game of dodge ball.

In mid-September chapter officers and the advisors spent one day at Husker Harvest Days. This provided an opportunity for members to get information on the latest advancements in agriculture and a chance for some wishful thinking about the coolest cars, trucks and ATVs on display. On September 24 members were involved in two separate activities.

Students involved in the Environmental Ag class participated in the area range judging contest held on the west edge of Pioneers Park in Lincoln. It was a beautiful day and students had an opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired skills in plant identification and site evaluation. While this was going on, other members of the chapter attended the Cornerstone Bank-sponsored Careers in Ag day at York. Members were able to attend a session of their choice that discussed various career areas, job potential and possible wage levels of those jobs.

Selected members helped the Aurora Area Chamber & Development conduct Ag Day for area 4th graders. This was held on September 30th at the Andy and Bonnie Jensen Farm.  Members were largely responsible for leading groups from station to station. The final activity the members have been involved in is magazine sales. This is conducted annually and provides a means for new members to earn enough money to purchase their jackets.
